University Bursaries and Emergency Funding

University Bursaries and Emergency Funding (UBEF) and the Student Financial Aid Information Centre (SFAIC) are a collaborative service of University Student Services and the Students' Union. Our mandate is to assist students in finding the financial resources necessary to fulfill their academic objectives.

UBEF is a member of the Student Financial Resources Centre (SFRC). The SFRC encompasses the following services:

Access Fund Bursaries
Student Financial Aid Information Centre (SFAIC)
University Bursaries and Emergency Funding (UBEF)

UBEF administers a number of emergency aid programs to assist full-time University of Alberta undergraduate and graduate students complete their academic programs.

Services available at UBEF throughout the year:
Emergency Student Loan (ESL)
Emergency Bursary (EB)

Programs available at UBEF at specific times during the year:
Supplementary Bursaries (SB)

Looking for a cheque?
UBEF disburses cheques from off campus government sources of funding. Cheques issued from British Columbia, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, and/or Ontario may be available for pick up at UBEF. Call 780-492-3483 if looking for any grant or bursary cheque that was sent to the University of Alberta.
