The first of its kind in Canada, the Alberta Centre for Telerehabilitation brings together clients, educators, researchers and health providers from urban, rural and remote areas to engage in telerehabilitation research and education initiatives, and to develop best practices in telerehabilitation. The Centre will provide support, information and service to facilitate connections between rehabilitation experts and other health professionals at a distance. - Telehealth is defined as the delivery of health services and education at a distance via the use of communications and information technologies.
- Telerehabilitation is the provision of rehabilitation intervention, education, training and support using technology across distances.
Partners What started as an opportunity to strengthen collaborative efforts between University of Alberta health science faculties and Capital Health resulted in the development of the new Alberta Centre for Telerehabilitation. Key partners are: University of Alberta Capital Health Central and Northern Alberta Rehabilitation Network Strategic Directions To create an environment where: - Telerehabilitation is valued and the benefits and advantages are understood;
- Telerehabilitation is a recognized option for rehabilitation service delivery;
- An accessible network of technology enables and supports telerehabilitation;
- A seamless integration of telerehabilitation options are available to all health regions;
- and A reputation of excellence exists in telerehabilitation research, education and practice.
