The Rhodes Scholarships, the oldest international fellowships, bring outstanding students from around the world to the University of Oxford.
This year’s Rhodes Scholar, Peter Gill (an undergraduate in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry), is an outstanding student with an amazing variety of volunteer and other interests.
These interests range from working on a political campaign to organizing a fundraiser for Kids with Cancer to spending the summer volunteering in a rural hospital in Uganda.
Peter appreciates the opportunities that opened up for him at the University of Alberta, which has an outstanding medical school with world-class teachers and a strong research program:
"The Faculty is known for its strong mentorship of students and has a reputation for producing top graduates. The U of A is an institution of excellence and my undergraduate experience was so positive, I wanted to continue that in medical school. Furthermore, I wanted to complete my medical program in Alberta, as I plan on practising here when I finish residency.”
