About the Celebration of Research and Innovation

On March 19, 2009, the Office of the Vice-President (Research) sponsored the University of Alberta's  first Celebration of Research & Innovation to honour our outstanding academic staff, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, undergraduate students and support staff.

This event celebrated the breadth of research at our University and the scope of our contributions to Albertan and Canadian society.

The University of Alberta is committed to building on our existing strengths in research, scholarship and the creative arts by partnering in innovative ways with government, industry and others to develop a knowledge-based economy and strengthen interdisciplinary links within our community and beyond.

Our goal is to support the talented people at the University of Alberta—faculty, support staff and students—with resources and services to build one of the world’s great universities for the public good.

Thank You

Critical to the success of the University of Alberta’s research is the important and valued funding from federal and provincial agencies, foundations and private sponsors.

We gratefully acknowledge these organizations’ continued support of the creative life of the University.

The University of Alberta would also like to thank the NSERC—Prairies Regional Opportunities Fund for sponsoring the 2009 Celebration of Research & Innovation.
