(May 1, 2007) - The Department congratulates and welcomes Dr. Joanne Faulkner, winner of the prestigious Killam Postdoctoral Fellowship, who will be joining us in September for two years to work with Dr. Cressida Heyes. Joanne's areas of specialisation include continental philosophy (French and German), feminism and psychoanalysis. She has published articles on Freud, Nietzsche, Irigaray, Heidegger, Klossowski, and Kofman. Her PhD dissertation (La Trobe University, Melbourne) drew upon Lacanian psychoanalysis to investigate the rhetorical force of Nietzsche's philosophy. Joanne's most recent research looks at the role played by the concept of 'innocence' in the identity and management of Western political communities. She is bringing with her a husband and two lovely daughters.
