Biosketch:

My doctoral research examines the relationship between workplace support in current health care environments and its impact on continuing professional development behaviors of occupational therapists.  Professional commitment and is proposed as a potential mediator in that relationship.  Future research will include consideration of the role of occupational therapy education programs in the continuing professional development of clinicians.

Inspiration/Vision Statement:
My vision for my role in this clinical track position is to ‘teach’ in such a way that our graduates will leave this program with a strong professional identity, strong reflection and lifelong learning skills values and skills, and finally that they will be equipped to emulate the accountability that comes with being a professional.

Clinical or policy implications of research:
Results from this study will assist employers in understanding how the structure and support they provide occupational therapists impact on the consequent behaviors and performance which contribute directly to meeting organizational goals.  Results will also inform education programs, professional organizations and regulatory bodies about the contexts and management structures in which occupational therapists are practicing and the resulting impact on their competency maintenance.
