Medieval and Early Modern Institute
The Medieval and Early Modern Institute, an interdisciplinary group of scholars at the University of Alberta, seeks to promote contact among different disciplines and theoretical approaches involved in the investigation and critical representation of the medieval and early modern world.
The Medieval and Early Modern Institute (MEMI) is to be a vigorous and welcoming society successfully engaging students, scholars and the broader public of the capital region in the study and understanding of medieval and early modern societies.
The mandate for MEMI's organization and functional programme areas comes from the membership. Our goals are: to advocate medieval & early modern studies in academic teaching curricula; to support members' aspirations by mentoring, advice and workshops as well as through formal teaching & research initiatives; to offer programmes and activities useful to the current and prospective members; and to deliver specific programme activities as directed by members, especially at General Meetings.
