FGSR Travel Awards
The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research offers three travel assistance awards: the Mary Louise Imrie Graduate Student Award, the J Gordon Kaplan Graduate Student Award, and the Profiling Alberta’s Graduate Students Award. They are offered at a maximum value of $1,100 for master’s students and to a maximum value of $1,300 for doctoral students depending on the travel destination and the estimate of eligible expenses.
The purpose of these awards is to help students expose their research results and conclusions to peer review, test ideas with acknowledged experts, etc. The trip should be a highlight of the student’s research program and will involve attendance at a major national or international research gathering where the student must be actively participating by presenting a paper or poster session, exhibiting work, or participating in a panel discussion.
Travel awards are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. If all available funds have been spent prior to the end of the fiscal year, no additional applications will be accepted. Eligible students may receive a maximum of one travel award during a graduate program. Students apply by submitting a completed travel award application form and supporting documents directly to the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research no earlier than six weeks prior to the travel date.
The travel award application form, which contains complete information on eligibility requirements, is available on the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research website.
