BA Honours Programme in Classics
The Honours programme in Classics is designed to provide an opportunity for interested students to acquire both breadth and depth in classics: breadth in the sense that students take courses ranging widely in place and time, and depth in that students select a field of specialization in which they write an Honours essay during the fourth year.
There are several advantages to the Honours programme for students who qualify by maintaining a minimum GPA of 6.5 with an average of 7.0 in Classics courses. The programme encourages students who share an interest in classics to come into contact with one another and with members of the Faculty. For example, where space allows, Honours students are allocated carrels in the Department Honours Room providing a convenient place to study and a place to meet students with similar emphases. Fourth-year students may take an independent study course with a faculty member if they choose.
