Annual History of Medicine Day
In April 2006 the University of Alberta hosted its first annual History of Medicine Day. The event showcased some of the research conducted by U of A students engaged in topics related to medical history from a variety of faculties and departments. Students presented their research and learned about other subjects and approaches to the history of health and medicine.

Call for Student Papers:
The History of Medicine Program at the University of Alberta invites abstracts for student papers from all disciplines on themes related to the history of medicine. Topics might include, but are not limited to, histories of:
- the body
- cultures of medicine and healing
- health policies and politics
- medical institutions
- drugs and therapies
- disease
- biographies
This event is sponsored by the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, the Department of History and Classics, Associated Medical Services, Inc., and the Alberta Medical Foundation.
Please send abstracts (250 words maximum), in a word document, outlining the major research question(s) that will be addressed in the presentation. We anticipate that presenters will have 15 minutes to present their research, followed by 5 minutes for questions.
