Online/Alternative Delivery Programs and Courses
The Faculty of Education offers various programs or courses that are delivered in whole or in part such that students do not need to travel to the University of Alberta campus to attend traditional face-to-face classes. Alternative delivery courses typically utilize the Internet to enable students and instructors to communicate using either asynchronous systems (participants not necessarily online at the same time, e.g. WebCT) or synchronous systems (participants must be online at the same time, e.g. Elluminate).

MES is a graduate degree program for working educators, delivered via a blend of face-to-face (summer residencies) and online distance instruction. This program is a non-departmental faculty offering with the following streams:

·
Leadership & School Improvement (K-12)
·         Leadership & Educational Improvement (post-secondary)

Teacher-Librarianship by Distance Learning (TL-DL)

TL-DL prepares teachers to work as teacher-librarians in elementary and secondary schools. Two streams, the Diploma and the Master of Education, can be taken entirely online. Students can continue to work part-time or full-time in their home location while completing their programs. The program is a joint effort of the Department of Elementary Education and the School of Library and Information Studies.
