Dr Roberta Hammett Professor, Faculty of Education, Memorial University St. John's, Newfoundland
Abstract: This presentation will describe how 9th graders used online digital resources to compose responses t Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The collaborative digital products included e-zines, PowerPoint presentations, digital videos and photostories. The students' digital texts were created within a school-university collaboration during which preservice teachers mentored the grade nine students online through the affordances of a ning (social networking site). The ninth graders shared insightful comments about their projects from their blogs. The paper will focus on technology integration in education courses, particularly the reasons behind and results of this particular course.
