Office of the Dean of Students


The Dean of Students plays an important role in defining and maintaining a healthy  and respectful relationship between the University of Alberta and its students. In  fulfilling this mandate, the Office of the Dean of Students:

  • provides overall support and administration for University Student Services
  • refers students to appropriate services and resources
  • offers assistance to students who are experiencing difficulty with the University or its faculty and staff
  • supplies information on appeals, grievances, and University policies regarding students
  • registers and regulates student clubs and associations on campus in conjunction with the Students' Union Student Group Services
  • administers the Student Engagement Grants
  • is responsible for the Truth in Education (TIE) program
  • oversees the Fresh Start program
