Dr. Chuang's research focuses on separation processes, such as membranes, distillation, absorption, and reaction; process development; catalytic distillation; waste removal from air; and hydrocarbon fuel cells. He complete his undergraduate education in Taiwan, and then moved to Canada, completing his PhD here at the University of Alberta. After spending 14 years working as a section head for Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd, he joined the faculty here in CME. He has received numerous teaching and research awards, including the Environmental Science and Technology Alliance Canada Award for Meritorious Research, and the R.S. Jane Memorial Lecture Award, the top honor awarded by the Canadian Chemical Engineering Society. He is the author of over 190 refereed papers and 37 patents.
