CMASTE is an education research and development centre serving K-12 students and teachers. Education research is employed to create and test curriculum, instruction and assessment concepts. CMASTE strives to be a unique R&D partner in mathematics, science and technology education.
A current example of a partnership is with the research centres funded by Alberta Ingenuity. See Outreach and then Alberta Ingenuity in the links in the left frame for lessons that reflect current scientific research.
An updated addition to our website is an on-line searchable database for classroom resources and services from the many partners in science and mathematics education in the Province of Alberta; e.g., search by grade and curriculum topic. There are about 80 partners in science and mathematics education in Alberta alone. Currently CMASTE has contacts for about 50 of these partners. We are gradually adding more partners and more of their resources and services. See Curriculum Resources and then Search Partner Resources.
Within the framework of the UNESCO Iraq Office project "Training of Trainers in Teacher Education for Sustained Quality Education", lessons are being prepared in an instructional design template for Iraqi science teacher education. The project aims at improving the quality of teacher education in Iraq--through strengthening the capacities of colleges of Science and Education in four Iraqi universities. See Outreach, Teacher Education, and then UNESCO (or direct).
Contact Frank Jenkins or Bob Ritter if you want to be added to our e-mail list for notification of CMASTE discussion group events.
