Religious Studies

Religious Studies examines and compares systems of belief. It looks at why "religion" seems to be a universal social phenomenon across time and cultures. Take courses that take an in-depth look at the histories and literatures of some of the world's major religions. Religious Studies also lets you learn ancient religious languages, so that you can get the "the word" straight from the source. Religious Studies offers Honors, Major, Minor and MA programs.

The Office of Interdisciplinary Studies provides administrative support to seven interdisciplinary programs. Five of these are governed by Advisory Councils and Program Directors appointed by the Dean in the Faculty of Arts: Comparative Literature (BA, MA, PhD), Humanities Computing (MA), Middle Eastern & African Studies (BA), Religious Studies Program (BA, MA), and Science, Technology and Society (BA).

Two other programs, the Individualized Major/Minor (whereby students design their own programs in consultation with a committee) and the Minor in International Studies are administered by the Senior Director, Office of Interdisciplinary Studies.
