Shandong Nuclear Power Equipment Manufacture Corporation, China's first nuclear power equipment plant, has been completed and starts production in early June. The plant, located in the city of Haiyang in the Shandong province, occupies 370,000 square metres. It produces steel containment vessels (CV) for the AP1000 nuclear power plant, structural plates and pipelines. The annual output volume is able to meet the demand of two sets of generating units in the AP1000 nuclear power plant. State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC), China Nuclear Industry 23rd Construction Corporation (CNI23) and China Nuclear Energy & Construction (Group) Corporation (CNECC) jointly began building this plant in July 2007.
