The Centre for Computational Geostatistics is an industrial affiliates program led by Dr. Clayton V. Deutsch, Professor at the University of Alberta.  The Centre conducts research into novel numerical and computational methods for geostatistical modeling.  In particular, the Centre focuses on the development of new algorithms based on surface and object-based methods for more geologically realistic numerical models; methods that rigorously account for the scale and precision of geophysical measurements; and means to integrate dynamic data in numerical geologic models of reservoirs.

To avoid heavy overhead charges and to preserve academic freedom, the fees collected by the Centre are unrestricted research grants.  The funds are carefully used for, tuition, stipends, computer equipment, and other necessary expenses.  The benefits to members and tentative research plans for the upcoming year will be stated clearly to each funding organization.  Important linkages are being developed with faculty and students in geology, geophysics, and engineering.

All members receive a report each year with research results with relevant computer code.  These hard paper reports contain a CD-ROM that includes software and an electronic version of all papers.  Following the tradition of GSLIB, the software will be distributed as source code to facilitate easy testing and integration into in-house or commercial software products.  Electronic versions of all papers will be distributed on the CD-ROM to facilitate internal dissemination, e.g., on internal web pages.  Contact Dr. Deutsch for more details such as membership costs.

Members of the Centre for Computational Geostatistics (CCG) have full access to all software including the annual reports, software, associated files and presentations as well as some help. All others are encouraged to join the CCG.
