The UAPC runs open sessions, kayak polo, wave pool sessions, and theory sessions through out the school year. In the summer, members team up with the United Alberta Paddling Society (UAPS) on river trips to locations around Alberta and BC.
To participate in club activities, you must be a member of the paddling club.

Kayak Polo is like water polo, but in kayaks. Teams play five a side, and any player can be the goalie. The object is to move the ball down the pool by passing to teammates or by "dribbling" (essentially passing to oneself, then paddling forward to pick up the ball) and eventually scoring on the opposing team. This is a very fast paced and exciting game and is an international sport.
Kayakers of all skill levels are welcome to practices. The ability to roll is encouraged but not necessary. Practices are held in the East Pool at Van Vliet Center on the University of Alberta campus. Practices are open to all members. We also take part in various tournaments throughout the year.
Kayak Polo practices begin Monday September 19th.
Our sessions are:
Mondays from 8:30-9:30pm
Wednesdays from 7-8pm
The UAPC will be holding two free trial sessions on Monday September 12th from 8:30-9:30pm and Wednesday September 14th from 7-8pm. No prior kayaking experience is neccessary as we will teach you the basic strokes and end with a game of polo. All equipment will be provided, just bring your swimming stuff. If you are interested in coming please send us an email at paddling@sports.ualberta.ca to register as we can only have 10 boats in the pool at a time.
The West Edmonton Mall Wave Pool gives Edmonton paddlers a unique opportunity to be on moving water during the winter. It is a great way for beginners to get their first taste of moving water. Kayak and equipment rental are not included in the cost of the wave pool session but equipment can be rented through our parent club, the United Alberta Paddling Society. All participants are required to wear a helmet and a PFD. Participants are required to sign waivers before participating in this event. Notices for individual wave pool sessions are posted on our emailing list prior to each event.
Summer begins when the rivers start flowing. All summer activities are organized through the UAPS. Trips to various rivers are scheduled for most weekends in the summer. For more information please visit http://paddleuaps.ca.
