Active U School Field Trips
We offer a variety of exciting, fun-filled camps for school-aged children, designed with participation in sport, games and recreational activities in mind. Camps may include
- Aquatics
- includes a variety of aquatic games and activities
- learn-to-swim instruction
- Indoor climbing
- includes an introduction to bouldering (climbing to a maximum of 12 feet without a rope or harness, and
- top rope climbing
- Gymnastics
- activities involving all recreational gymnastics apparatus such as bars, beam, floor, vault and trampoline
- Fitness sessions
- includes learning how to use resistance training equipment
- stability training using fitness balls, wobble boards, disks, bosu balls, etc.
- cardiovascular training
- Curling
- Tennis
Our camps run during
- the week after Christmas
- and Spring break
All Active U School Field Trips meet Alberta's physical education curriculum requirements:
- General outcome A - Activity
- General outcome B - Benefits health
- General outcome C - Cooperation
- General outcome D - Do it daily - for life!
Classes for 2007 run from May 1 to June 27.
Location
All activity programs are held at the Van Vliet Centre (Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation) on Main Campus at the University of Alberta, with the exception of curling and tennis, which are held at the Faculty's curling and tennis facility, the Saville Sports Centre at South Campus.
