A Critical Dialogue on the Arts for the 21st Century
Please accept an invitation to participate in a Faculty-wide critical dialogue that will unfold over the coming academic year. This dialogue will encourage us - individually and collectively - to reflect upon the Faculty of Arts’ past, its current academic positioning, and to deliberate on intellectually vibrant headings that will guide our endeavours in years to come. Within the context of Dare to Discover, we have the opportunity to reflect critically on the academic foundations of what we do as members of this Arts Faculty, to assess our current scholarly predicament, and to think seriously about where we want to be in the next decades. This places us amongst very few Arts Faculties to explore their epistemological horizons, and engage in a critical dialogue on what it is to be at the forefront of an international Arts academe. This initiative aims to nurture an exciting, colleagial, thoughtful and reflective conversation on our future.
Thank you kindly for all the submissions responding to the previously posted draft report.
Next Steps
- All submissions will be reviewed by the Critical Dialogue Committee
- A final version of the report will be posted by 30th June (as per original terms of reference)
- As term resumes in the Fall, the Report will be formally presented to the Faculty of Arts and Provost.
