Writing Task Force

 

  • Dr. Lucie Moussu has been appointed Director, Centre for Writers, and Assistant Professor, Department of English and Film Studies, as of July 1, 2009.

  • The Writing Task Force has been selected as the recipient of the 2008 President's Achievement Award for accomplishments under the Transformative Organization and Support cornerstone. President Indira Samarasekera presented the award to the Task Force at a meeting of the General Faculties Council on September 29, 2008.   • Nina Varsava, a 2008 U of A graduate (English major, WRITE minor) submitted to the Writing Task Force website in 2006 (to be posted under "Points of View") an essay she had written for English 425 ("Studies in the History of Reading"), a course taught by Daphne Read.  She has since revised the piece, and it has been published in the Spring 2008 (Volume 9: Issue 2) issue of Radical Pedagogy.  The full article, "A Writer's Complaint: Essays and I in the English Discipline,"   is available online at

     Ms. Varsava currently works at U of A (Liberal Studies, Faculty of Extension--Program Support, Communications and 
    Marketing); she also taught "Writing Skills: Improving Clarity and Style" during fall term. She plans to start an MA in 
    English/Creative Writing in the fall."
