School in Cortona
|
Each year, students from all disciplines and universities travel to Cortona, Italy and enrol in Arts courses that take advantage of this unique Tuscan location. U of A professors conduct regular classroom lectures (in English) on diverse topics like Renaissance Art, Roman Civilization, Archaeology and Social History, Anthropology and introductory courses in Italian and French. Instead of studying it in a textbook, students actually travel to see Michelangelo's David. Instead of learning Italian in a lab, the students live it.
The 2010/11 Cortona Calendar is now available. Please pick up your free copy at the Faculty of Arts office (6th floor Humanities Centre) or in the pedway that connects HUB and Humanities. You can also view the pdf version below. Check out the links on the left side of the page for more information on application procedures and admission requirements, the history of the program, the 2010/11 course offerings, current photos and a video. You can also e-mail us at: cortona@ualberta.ca with any questions you may have, or if you would like a copy of the Calendar mailed to you. For students interested in studying in Cortona during the spring and summer months, there are also several courses offered as part of a classical archaeological field school in Central Italy.
